In response to the melting glaciers, some indigenous practices have been preserved by the people of Baltistan (Pakistan) known as ‘Gang Khswa’, in their native language, meaning to ‘nurture with deep affection’. GLOF-II project is helping the communities in preserving these indigenous practices, such as Avalanche Harvesting, Glacial Grafting and Ice Stupas for water conservation in vulnerable valleys of northern Pakistan.
Glacier Grafting is an artistic and ecological intervention project exploring human–glacier relationships through experimental practices addressing glacier loss.
