The Alpine Science Institute (ASI) of Central Wyoming College (CWC) has been conducting quantitative glaciological and hydrological data collection for the past six years under permit with the USFS. The ASI is now exploring the use of repeat photography to document the changes occurring in Wyoming’s alpine.
As a starting point, photos from 2020 taken by mountaineer and photographer Stacy Wells are paired here with images collected by Mark Meier for his 1951 thesis exploring the status of Wyoming’s Wind River glaciers. These photos provide a powerful representation of the massive change which is occurring in Wyoming’s alpine environs
