School Strike 4 Climate was formed in 2018 and is part of a global movement of student strikers committed to ending fossil fuel extraction and securing a safe and liveable future.

Over this time, the School Strike network has captured the imagination of people already engaged in the climate debate. However, with hundreds of mainstream media stories in Australia and overseas combined with their powerful moral authority, the strikers are increasingly attracting the involvement of people who have never been involved in climate activism before and a diversity of young people from different geographic and ethnic backgrounds.
